How Roof Louvres Work

Louvre roofs are great, as their ability to be placed into different positions allows you to have a gorgeous, versatile outdoor living space that can be enjoyed all year round. Designed to be robust, with a contemporary feel, our roofs can give an aesthetically-pleasing look to your outdoor patio space. But how do roof louvres work, exactly? It’s a lot simpler than you may think!

Read on to find out a little about how roof louvres work, and about our company as a whole!

Before After BeforeFinished

How our roofs work
Have you ever been sitting outside when it starts to rain and thought to yourself “I wish we had some cover, so I could still enjoy the outdoors”? Or maybe you’ve had a roof installed, found it has made your outdoor area kind of dark, and wish that some days you could bring the beautiful sunlight in. Louvre roofs aim to provide a solution to these situations!

Our systems allow you to take control over the sunlight and elements within your outdoor living area. As a company, we are passionate about creating spaces that are not only practical, but also built to withstand the tough Aussie conditions we experience.

The louvre roofing system allows for the louvres to be placed into a variety of different positions. Each position is made for different weather conditions and needs, making them ideal as outdoor patio roofing. Some of these positions are as follows:

Fully-open position
Ideal for when you are looking to let plenty of sunlight in (such as during the colder, winter months), this position sees the louvres placed into a position that is 175-degrees perpendicular to the ground. It lets ample amounts of air to flow into the space, too.

Angled-open position
This position blocks much of the hot sun, while still letting light and air into the space.

Partially-open position
The partially-open position is able to block light rain from getting into your outdoor patio area, but still allows air and light to get in. This position also provides shade from the hot sun.

Fully-closed position
Great for when it is raining heavily, but you still wish to spend some time outside (maybe listening to the rain on the roof!), the fully-closed position allows you to block heavy rain from coming in. The interlocking louvres of our roofs also efficiently carry rain to the gutters.

Benefits of our roofs
There are many benefits to our roofing systems. As mentioned earlier, several positions allow for plenty of air and light to flow into your outdoor living space. You can choose just how much light an airflow you wish to let in, depending on the weather and elements. If you are after an additional light source for when the louvres are in the fully-closed position, we can also provide you with specially-designed lighting strips. Now that’s a bright idea!

When it comes to picking the colour(s) for your new louvre roof, there are hundreds to choose from! You can also choose the colours for the beams, posts, and other framework, to ensure the project has a matching palette. If you would like to see our full-range of options, ask us for a colour chart! We also have limitless design possibilities available, and with almost 40 years of experience between them, our two designers ensure your project is in capable hands!

Our roofs are easy to use, and we provide a simple remote control system, through which you can operate the HV2 louvre roof system, with all of our projects. Our roofs also each have a rain sensor installed, which detects rain and automatically closes the roof for you, to ensure your outdoor furniture remains protected. There is also the additional option of having wall-mounted switched and push buttons, through which your roof can be controlled. We setup basic open and close setting for each roof project, however, home automation is also an option.
