There’s not much that beats relaxing on the patio, watching the sunset at the end of a long day. Or sitting out in the clear fresh air, soaking up some downtime watching a funny video, or reading a good book.
Currently, most of us are spending the vast majority of our time at home. During these times, it’s important to ensure we keep ourselves mentally-stimulated (to avoid boredom), while still getting plenty of fresh air and downtime activities in when needed.
Today, we take a look at some inspiration on additional ways to enjoy their space. Below are just some of the ways that our louvre roof systems can help improve your outdoor living experience, from providing a cosy space when it rains, to a lovely spot for some late-night stargazing.
An outdoor space when it rains
Louvre roofs can be set to a position to stop rain coming in. The partially-open position is ideal for blocking out light rain while still letting air flow into an outdoor living space. For heavier rain, the fully-closed position protects your outdoor space, and the interlocking louvres carry the rain water to the gutters.
Rain doesn’t mean you must stay indoors! Bring out a blanket (if it’s colder), and a book, and cuddle up in a comfy chair while listening to the raindrops hit the roof overhead. Alternatively, if you feel like warming up in a different way, why not do a little exercise? Workouts such as yoga can be good as they don’t require a lot of space. If you’ve never done yoga before and are struggling about exactly what to do, never fear! There are plenty of free videos out there for complete yoga beginners on sites such as YouTube.
A shady space for sunny days
Our louvres work a little bit like outdoor roof blinds, blocking the sun on warm sunny days when you’re after a shady space outside. Our louvres can be placed into a variety of different positions to block out the sun (depending on where it is in the sky), or set to the fully-closed position for those who would rather a cover-all approach.
Some fun outdoor activities for warm days include drawing, painting, and other crafts. For those with kids, why not bring some crafty activities outside for a bit of a change of scenery. Alternatively, a family puzzle or boardgame could be a fun way to spend a warm afternoon. The versatility of out “outdoor roof blinds” means a warm day can be enjoyed outside in the shade, without the worry of potential sunburn!
Open up the outdoor roof blinds and take a look at the night sky above! When in the fully-open position, you can look through the louvres up to the sky, and check out the stars. Make sure you pick a clear night, free of clouds for the best results. It’s also a good idea to choose a night when the moon is less bright, unless of course you want to see the moon in all its full glory!
For extra fun, do a little research into the different constellations that you should be able to see, and try to find them in the sky. This can be fun for the whole family, with kids also looking for the constellations, trying to match the stars they can see to the patterns in the pictures they are shown.
Positions of the louvres
Our louvres can be placed into a whole range of different positions, with the simple press of a button. Some of these positions are:
The fully-open position
This angle is ideal for letting the sunshine in, which can be particularly good during the winter months. The fully-open position sees the louvres perpendicular to the ground below.
The angled-open position
Allows natural ventilation in, while still blocking the hot sun. This position is good for offering some shelter against the sun and heat.
The partially-open position
Can block out light rain, allowing you to enjoy your outdoor space. This position still allows plenty of light and airflow into the space, so you’re not compromising protection from the elements for fresh air.
The fully-closed position
Provides shelter against heavy rain, allowing you to stay dry while outside, and listen to the peaceful sounds of raindrops falling on the roof. The interlocking louvres carry rain to the gutters, providing smart water management.
